Crop Report: 2025 Lavender Harvest in Bulgaria
July 23, 2025, village of Tarnicheni
The 2025 lavender harvest in Bulgaria has presented a complex picture, showcasing both challenges and positive developments, across the region.
Field Yields:
This year, field yields have unfortunately fallen below expectations. The primary reason for this shortfall was the frost that occurred in April, which adversely affected many lavender plantations. This situation mirrored the challenges faced by the rose growers, who also reported lower yields due to similar climatic conditions.
Production/ Factory Yields:
On a more positive note, the production yields for lavender have shown an improvement compared to last year. This positive trend can be largely attributed to the warm and sunny weather throughout June and during the harvest campaign.
Quality:
The quality of our harvested lavender this year is exceptional, characterized by a notably high content of linalyl acetate, which is essential for the fragrance and therapeutic properties of our essential oils. The rich and full aroma of our lavender not only highlights our premium quality but also reinforces our commitment to organic practices. By employingenvironmentally friendly methods, we ensure that our lavender retains its natural potency and purity, setting a benchmark for premium organic lavender in the market.
Summary:
While the overall yield of oil per hectare has been lower this year, the outstanding quality of our lavender harvest provides a bright outlook for the future. Farmers have expressed concern over yield fluctuations, yet there is a growing belief that the recent uprooting of lavender fields, particularly in Northern Bulgaria, will lead to a more balanced and sustainable future for the Bulgarian lavender industry. At Enio Bonchev, we remain committed to keep our focus on organic practices and premium quality and look forward to a fruitful and fragrant lavender future!
