2025 Rose Harvest Report - Bulgaria

June 27, 2025, village of Tarnicheni

The 2025 rose harvest season in Bulgaria was certainly one for the books, marked by a series of unusual weather events. The campaign kicked off in late May and wrapped up around June 20, lasting just about 30 days. A record cold and rainy May— the coldest in two decades— along with frost damage in April and some hail during the harvest, affected farmers’ fields, creating significant challenges for rose growers.

Production Insights

Field and production yields are estimated to be 20% to 30% lower than last year while price for rose flowers is 5-10% higher. Despite the hurdles, we are proud to report that the quality of our 2025 rose oils and floral waters is outstanding, featuring a rich aroma and balanced components. As always, we maintain our commitment to quality through our Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) certification, ensuring that only the finest Bulgarian Rose oil is produced and labeled authentically.

Commitment to Sustainability

At Enio Bonchev, we focus on People and Nature. We prioritize fostering meaningful relationships throughout our supply chain, ensuring that pickers and farmers receive fair return for their hard work. This dedication creates a supportive community that values each individual’s contribution.

Our regenerative farming practices, including cover crops and underground irrigation, reflect our commitment to environmental stewardship. Growing Organic roses is no small task, but we are fortunate to operate in a breathtaking protected area surrounded by mountains and forests.

As proud members of UEBTand EcoVadisGold medalists, we strive to set a sustainable example for our farmers, demonstrating that we can nurture the land while supporting our community. Together, we aim to cultivate a future where both People and Nature thrive.

The 2025 rose harvest was a testament to resilience and quality, and we look forward to continuing our legacy as a top producer of high-quality Bulgarian Rose oil and water. While the interest in Bulgarian rose remains strong, competition from other producing countries is on the rise. To stay ahead, we must continue to meet and exceed expectations, ensuring a sustainable supply chain that respects the rights of every individual involved while staying price competitive.

Thank you for your ongoing support and stay tuned for more updates on our journey!
