Protected Geographical indications (PGI) is a confirmation of delivered quality. Only Bulgarian producers who keep the highest standards for quality and have absolute traceability and strict quality control on the production process are eligible to apply and get the PGI certification.

Nowadays, with the constantly increasing prices, there are many adulterated Rose oils on the market. PGI Certificate and special mark is a guarantee of true authentic quality for 100% pure and Natural Bulgarian Rose oil. Only products with such certificate and mark can be labeled as “Bulgarian Rose oil”. Always ask your supplier to provide PGI certificate of conformity before you make a purchase. In case of any discrepancies, please, inform your local authorities or directly contact the European Commission.

We, at Enio Bonchev, are proud to announce that we are the first Bulgarian producer to be certified in 2016 in compliance with the requirements defined by the Management Regulation under the denomination "Bulgarian Rose oil" recognized within the EU as a Protected Geographical Indication according to EU Regulation No. 1151/2012.

Enio Bonchev’s Bulgarian Rose Oil is now protected under Regulation (EU) No. 1151/2012

Under the rules of the EU Regulation No. 1151/2012 on quality schemes for agricultural products and foodstuffs (protected designations of origin and protected geographical indications of origin), “Българско Розово масло/ Bulgarsko rozovo maslo” has been granted the status of a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) of origin and was filed in the relevant EU register under section 2.10, essential oils. The entry was published in the Official Journal of the EU L 283 of 29th September 2014.

The European Commission approved the addition of a new Bulgarian product in the register of protected geographical indications - the Bulgarian Rose oil. In relation with it becoming a protected geographical indication, it has been given a specific description. "Bulgarian rose oil" is the essential oil obtained by distillation of Rose Damascena flower petals. A quality requirement is set referring to the approved harvesting areas, time and duration of rose picking, specifics of the production process and yields, etc. The specific distinctive qualities of Bulgarian Rose oil are rich and lasting aroma, pale yellow-green color and a balanced composition of volatiles and hydrocarbons. Its chemical characteristics are closely related to the geography of the area and distinguish it from the Rose oil produced in other parts of the world.
